If you haven’t already done so, it’s almost time to dig the bike out from behind all those boxes in the garage.
The annual National Commuter Challenge will take place June 5 – 11, 2005. It’s a friendly competition between Canadian communities to encourage the use of sustainable modes of transportation to and from work.
When you walk, cycle, carpool, take transit or telework, you take steps towards meeting the Government of Canada’s One-Tonne Challenge, playing a significant role in reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.
You can easily register for the Commuter Challenge online. You might also consider coordinating something for your company or school.
Whether you participate as a "competitor" or just for the fun of it, it’s a great way to get in shape and keep a few cars off our roads, while relaxing and having fun. It almost makes going to work bearable… 🙂
