Last Saturday was the 2015 Mud Hero challenge in Red Deer, Alberta.
Initially, I was just going to tag along with the family and take photos but in the end I was convinced to participate.
Needless to say, it was an absolute blast.
The course is six kilometers with 16 obstacles courses held in the Canyon Ski Resort in Red Deer. (I was surprised to hear Red Deer HAD a ski hill, let alone a ski resort, but it’s in a canyon, not on a mountain….)
A six kilometer run is NOT the same as a six kilometer run with 16 obstacles. Obstacles ranged from fairly simple ones (like the car climb) to tougher ones (like the Hill from Hell; I don’t know what it was officially called, but that’s what I call it) to some really fun ones like the Backwards Bullfrog, the Swamp Run and the Hamburger Hill. Finishing the overall course was the pièce de résistance: the largest mud pit in Canada!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t really take my camera with me, but did manage to get a few shots in.
